My Mom's Birthday Card.

Thank goodness my mom has no idea about computers.  I don't think she even knows how to turn it on.  I know she doesn't so I can share this with everyone and not worry about her ever seeing it.  I just have to hide it until April 6th.  Her birthday.  This lady is the greatest person, she is a saint.  This is my mom, Rose.

This woman is a horse.  That's what we call her.  This is her doing what she loves to do.  Garden and take care of the back yard.  It's her territory.   She will be turning 67 and I know most days she has more energy than I do.  A little about her.  She was born in Mexico and came over when she was around 7.  She met the love of her live, married for 22 very short years and buried him 16 years ago.  10 years ago I moved and said to her that she had taken care of me all her life so now it was time for me to take care of her.  She sold everything and moved with me.  Best thing ever!  I love her dearly and owe her everything that I am....
( Look at the dates on the pic.. 12/4/09  Dec. and see how bright and sunny it is.  That's why I live in AZ. )

So here is the card I made for her. The background paper isn't really paper!  It is fabric.  It's fabric but like contact paper.  I took a picture of the paper and the back of it so you can see how it came.  I have no idea where I got it.  If anybody recognizes it let me know.  I would love to get more of it.  If you look closely you will see it is frayed at the bottom of the card.

The Rose stamp is from at SU set called Fifth Ave Floral.
Border punch is EK

FRIENDSHIP.. It is golden!

Friendship is a very golden thing.  I told you that I was going to search for the pot of gold.  (See post Shamrocks Galore)  Well I had it all along.  Friendship!  Friendship is the Pot Of Gold at the end of the rainbow.  I am soooo rich just for having a friend like I do.  She is a life saver and unfortunately I need to call upon her more than I want to, but no matter when or what she has going on, (a mother of 5 boys) she is there for me.  Even 1 hour before a party she is hosting.  I have to say to everyone that will listen, how grateful I am and I wish everyday I could give her something - anything to help repay all she does for me.   I made this card with her in mind.  I could never give it to her because she makes cards.  She is a SU Demonstrator and her cards are outta this world. Mine could never do hers justice so I just think about her and she gives me inspiration.

Black & White Elegant

This was really outta my norm.  If you watch my cards I love to color.  Stamps or Digis, I love to color them in.  The other thing I lean to is cartoons or caricatures so as see this is really not like anything I normally do, butttt I really like this card.  I left any sentiment off as it can be used for so many different situations.

It's clean and simple and was real quick.  The stamp is Inkadinkado
I used  Fiskars - Border & Corner Punch - Lace and Lattice on the edge by the ribbon.  Also used my Fiskars Scallop border punch for the square.  Embossed with Dots and my Cuttlebug.  A just bought those cute little flower stickers at Michaels the other day.  Sooo simple and they come in white, purple, and pink.  At least those were the only colors I saw and snatched up.

If I haven't said it latley THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY AND CHECKING OUT MY BLOG AND KEEPING UP TODATE WITH MY HAPPENINGS.

Big Mamma really apprecialtes it sooooooooooo much.

Never can have enough Birthday Cards

So I just keep making them and making them.  Now I just have to remember friends and family birthdays in time to mail them out.  Boy oh Boy am I bad at this.  That is my New Year's resolution.  Any whooooo here is another and I had fun with this cup cake.  The stamp is from a set by Hero Arts called CUPCAKES.. DUH!

All the paper are scraps I took from my scrap bin.  The top two are from left over Valentines paper. (part of a challenge requirement, but worked perfect)  I just got the new QuicKutz - Nesting Label.  It's also called Cookie Cutter.  I am not real experienced at QuicKutz but I think I am getting the hang of it.  They really aren't that much different than Nesties.. I use them all in my Cuttlebug.  I love my Cuttlebug.  On the cupcake I used Liquid Applique in yellow then glued glitter sparkles on top.  Part of the stamp pack had the little cherry so I stamped that and glittered it then popped it out on top.

Hope you like it as much as I had fun making it.

Shamrocks Galore

I thought I would start on my St Patties cards and here is my first.  Of course I'm going for a few challenges with this one.
I free cut the shamrock on the inside.  The stamp came from a packet I have of Heidi Grace called For You.  I think you can tell but the center of each shamrock there is a little green bling.  The little hat was a sticker I had, I cut it out and popped it up.  It's the missing Leprechaun's hat.  Now if I could only find him and his pot of gold!

Challenges:
Cards For Men #4 - Use Green
Crafty Ho's #1 - Think Spring

I really am still alive

I know what you're thinking. .What the heck happened to her?  Nothing really.  Just a couple of days break and a huge garage sale this weekend.  My BFF and I unloaded both our garages and had a great, successful garage sale.  Just one small down side.. half way through Sat. morning it started to rain and hasn't stopped. As they say here in AZ  we need it so no one complains.  Since the garage sale cut short it was a perfect time to get back to the cards.

Here is one I made for a few challenges.  Not really liking it.  One challenge said no patteren paper.  I said No Problem.  I say now.. Problem!  Just not the same.  I love the sunflower .. just looking at it brightens the day.  I grew real ones during the summer and they were huge.  We'll do it again this year and you all will get a chance to share.

Special Card for Delia

Dustin Pike had put a call out to all of us to make a card for a wonderful 10 year old young lady that has a bit of a medial problem.  He graciously gave a few of his wonderful drawings out for the cards because she loves owls.  I have made a card for Delia I hope she likes it.

I double up on the image so I could cut out his feet and his hands.  They are popped up with foam.  I took the sketch from Eat Sleep Stamp Challenge #70.
The Pink Elephant Challenge #54 asked us to use ribbon.  The Cupcake Craft Challenge #78 says Keep it Simple.

So just in case you would like to jump in and send some sunshine Delia way here is her info and you can also go to Dustin's site.  I have linked up at the first sentence.
An address for her mail is here.

This card started with the Taylored Expression Challenge #100  The papers are all from DCWV Stack 7  I am in LOVE with this stack.  Used my Nestie and popped three little squares in the corner.  I got inspiration on the color from Sweet Stampin Challenge #13

How close did it come?
Also Hand Full of Stamps has a Challenge #16 that is Open so let's enter it in there and also Allsorts Challenge came up with a great recipe for their challenge Week #39.  We had to use 3 of something, 2 of something and 1 of something. Here are mine:

2 - Nesties

Just to let your eyes focus a little I have to show you what I was up against while taking these pictures.  I went outside and who has to be right in the middle of things.

Cupcake anyone

I really love this card.  Maybe because it is so simple and to me simple is clean.  Here is a little about what I used.  I embossed the background paper with my Cuttlebug dots.  Used my Nestabilities Peony for the center.  I created faux stiching around the edge.  The hearts were cut from my Martha Stewart punch.  Isn't it sooo cute that it cuts the center out to thread thin ribbon through it.   I used my copic to color my cupcake and popped on a cute heart button on the top.  I added some bling little dots but in the picture they look like pearls.  They aren't.   Here is a close up but they still look like pearls.

I hope everyone will have a wonderful Thursday.   This weekend I have a bunch of posts I have to catch up on so be ready.

I wanted to get a close up on the little fan I made where I stamped my sentiment.  The pictures not good .. so sorry.  The  digi is a gift from Digital Doodling.  The paper is from the DCWV - The Far EastStack.  The punch is Martha Stewart and the sentiment says:
"a warm hello" is from Hero Arts   Of course I am going to enter in the following challenges.  I live for challenges.. Anyone for a cup of coffee???

I bought this stamp and thought it might be pretty darn big, what would I end up doing with it?  Well I love it now!  I think I just made one of my best cards ever.

I made it with a few challenges in mind and no one in particular to give it to but as I am typing this I know exactly who to send it to.  There is a certain person with a birthday coming up and it will go there.

The stamp: Hero Arts Clings - Big Cup
Dotts paper: Pinkpaislee - Bullseye * Cupid Collection.  This is part of a giveaway I won about 2 months ago.
I punched the heats out with my Marvey small punch.

Love for someone special

Before I get to my card I want to remind everyone that when we are given something and we take it, we need to remember to express our thanks.  I was taught a very good lesson today.  Not harshly but Alison at Stretch N Bubbles reminded us all that if someone takes the time to give a gift we should take the time to say Thank you.  I was a very bad blogger, I took and did not even say Thank You, but will never make that mistake again.

Big Mamma has stepped down off her soap box and would like to share a cute "Very Non-T rational" Valentines Card.  I used Karen Doodles digi image "Pony Love".

I don't think I could express LOVE any better than how much she loves her pony.  It reminds me of me when I was young.  I had a pony that I would hug and love so much I swear I'd see his eyes roll when he saw me coming.  The thought bubble I know just said something like..  "ohhh here she come again.. I love her so much but geezzeee does she have to squeezzee so hard!"  LOL.  He was my best friend.

I'm rambling again aren't I.   Ok.. here it is.. and of course entering it in a few challenges listed below.

Challenges:
Catch the Bug - Valentines with a twist.. use non-traditional valentine colors, that means no pinks and no reds
TCP Tuesday - Create a card using the image of this picture as inspiration.  I think I couldn't have done better.  Love is in the air is my interpretation.

What do you think I should call this card?

I actually had time to finish a card I started last night and made it as I went.  I have no idea what to call this kind of card.  Like I said I made it up as I went.  I can take the tag out flip it over and jot a little note on the other side of the tag or i could slip a special personal note behind the tag.  Well this is going to be sent to a very special friend that lives outta state and I just want her to know I am always thinking of her.

I am going to enter this in two challenges:
Sweet Stampin Challenge 11 - Scallops
Papertake Weekly - Love Actually

The sentiment is a Stampabilities - Thought of you
All the paper is from a DCWV 4.5 x 6.5 stack
Scallop edge is Martha Stewart.

Well let me know if you've seen a card like this, if you like, or what you don't.  I always welcome every thought good or bad,(I like to think of it as learning thoughts)    I really believe that is one of the main reasons why I'm here.  To learn from the experts out there.

Sleep tight all..
& one more BIG Birthday Kiss to my baby boy!
Your Big Mamma love you very much Dylan.
