All things grow with Love

Have to share my newest creation with you today.  I am always checking out the website of one of my favorite lines of stamps,  Our Craft Lounge.   This week they have a great challenge of using Zig-Zags

The best part of their stamps are that they are so universal.  I pulled out a set I have called Sunshine Cheer.  I used two stamps from the collections, the cloud and the rain of hearts.   The sentiment is from a different set but I thought how perfect to go with the card.

Here's a close up of the clouds.  I stamped three on the die cut and an extra one so that I could cut it out and pop it up.  Then I just used chalk to give them some color, and used a red glitter pen to color in the hearts and give them a little sparkle.

Oh.. one last thing are my Zig-Zags.   Duhhh that is one of the most important parts of the card.  They are from Bazzill and are called Just the Edge Cardstock Strips.  I have them in all sorts of colors and each package has 20 pcs. of different designs.

Do you think this is cheating?

Bingo Birthday Card

Wanted to share a birthday card I made for a very special person turning 18 years old soon.  It's a he so I wanted to make sure it was not girly at all.   I got the idea from a card I found on a blop called Simply Stamped.  This is the orginal card she made.  So adorable!

One of my blogs I follow for great challenges:  Just Ad Ink had a wonderful sketch this week.  Very simple but I thought would be perfect for a simple card.

Then to get a great color pallet I always check out Color Throwdown for their challenges.  I am never disappointed.

When I saw the Simply Stamped card I thought how perfect since I bought my Bingo impression plate, it's Tim Holtz, before Christmas and can't stop thinking of ideas to use it for.

After I embossed the Bingo Card I colored in the BINGO word with black maker and also dusted the whole thing with black chalk.  I think it gave it a little bit of a distressed look and also helps to see the numbers.

Pretty simple huh?  Sometimes that's all that is needed to make something special for someone special.   It's the thought that counts!

Hey everyone!  Another day off finally so I thought I would share with you a project I did for my daughter.

Sometime during the first week of the new year my daughter called from Seattle, what a great city..I could go off on a whole other subject with just that thought but keep on track Mary.  She called and said "Mom could you do me a HUGE favor?"  I'm thinking what the heck can I do from here but "Of course honey what ever I can do you know I will."  She proceeds to tell me that Chinese New Year and her birthday are on the same day so she is having a party.

"Mom, can you make me some invites for the party?"  WHAT?? can I make her invites.. OMG my ultimate dream has come true.  I long for ideas to make cards for.  Most of my cards I make are for card challenges.   I love to enter and then I just put them in a box.

I got all the details on what she was looking for and how many she needed.  She left most of it up to me to surprise her.

So I got down to work stamping and cutting.   I put all those little letters through my Xyron sticker maker and what a huge time saver that was.
I used three different stamps on the invites.  The banner is from Hero Arts.  I love this stamp, so many uses, so much fun.
Then I had the lantern stamp for some time.  I think I found it in the dollar bin at Mikes.

The third stamp is the "Time to Celebrate"  I thought it worked perfect with invites and theme of the card.   Last I just added a little bling to give some dimension to the card.

I decided to make envelopes, mostly because the cards are such an odd shape.

Just as an added touch I punched a scallop border at the top on the closing flap.  I think it made it have just a bit of a personal touch.

I sent them off to her about a week ago and they were a hit.  She loved them and sent them right out.

Maybe it's time to get started on Valentine cards.. Come back soon so I can show you what I'm up to .

Catching up to 2012

Happy 2012 everyone!  I know you probably have been wondering where the heck have I been.  I know.  Sounds like we have a lot to catch up on.

I did take time off before and after Christmas since my  daughter came into town for the holiday.  This time she stayed longer than she normally does.  I sure do miss her and really enjoyed the time we had together.
Her hair is pinned back in this picture but normally it is long and wavy.

So how did everyone ring in the new year?  I spent New Years Eve like I do every single year for probably the last 10 years.  At home safe and sound.  Yea.. I feel like I am just to old to go out and do the big hoopla, blow the horns and get all drunk and crazy.  I was asked to go to a block party and I probably should have gone for a couple of hours but that's just not me.  I really am not good in crowds with lots of people I don't know.  I would rather just hang at home, watch a little TV and scan the web for more fun crafting ideas.

Speaking of fun crafting ideas, (like how all this flows, hahaha) I am working on gathering up some projects for my Girls Crafting Nite Out.  As you should know by now I work at the big orange hardware warehouse and we did one of these last year, which ended up a great success.  So at the beginning of this year my big BIG boss (the manager of the store) came to me and said I had the green light to do the crafting nites though out the next year.  Of course all the items to make the project must be from our store.  Well duh!  Come to find out this is not as easy as I thought it would be.  We have awesome prices and everyone knows what we carry but lets face it we are not a craft store and my target for the projects are under 10$ and items that are decor or gift giving items.  I have a few ideas and right now have enough projects to have a class every other month.   I have created a Board at my Pinterest called Girls Nite Out.  I am also thinking that part of my projects are to teach women how to use tools they may not know how to use or are afraid to use in creating their projects.

Like a Miter Box, how many of you know how to use a Miter Box out there?  Miter Boxes can be very inexpensive and once you have one you can cut so many things it unbelievable.

One last thing I've been doing, well other than working, I was asked to make party invites.  Come back tomorrow and I'll have show and tell about that.
